SolarWeb exists to provide accurate, independent information about solar energy for Canadian homeowners. This policy explains how we research, write, and maintain our content – and how we handle the commercial relationships that help fund the site.

Our Mission

SolarWeb provides Canadian homeowners with the information they need to make confident decisions about solar energy. We focus on practical, province-specific guidance backed by verified data.

We are not a solar installation company. We are a media and information resource, and our editorial decisions are made independently.

How We Research

• Primary: Government and regulatory sources (NRCan, provincial energy ministries, utilities)
• Secondary: Manufacturer specifications and datasheets
• Supporting: Independent testing data and industry publications
• Market: Installer pricing data and market analysis

All cost figures are in Canadian dollars. When data is estimated, we state that explicitly.

Fact-Checking Process

Every article goes through a structured verification checklist confirming:

• All claims attributed to a source
• Dollar amounts match official sources
• Internal links resolve correctly
• Province-specific data verified per-province

We use a 90-day review cycle for content referencing incentives, rates, or government policies.

Product Review Methodology

Reviews are research-based, not hands-on-tested (unless stated). Built from manufacturer specs, independent testing, Canadian pricing, warranty terms, and climate-relevant performance analysis.

Our ratings are not paid placements. No company can pay for a favourable review.

Affiliate Relationships

• Affiliate links are identified within content
• No affiliate partner has editorial input
• We recommend against products when research warrants it, regardless of affiliate status

Corrections and Updates

• Errors corrected with “Updated” note showing date and changes
• Outdated data refreshed with updated date
